If you are a veteran, you will quickly realize that there are less crops to plant, less vehicles to buy, less in game options (no cockpit driving in this release), and more. There is enough content to keep you going for many hours, but not too much as to overwhelm or complicate what is going on. If the game actually taught you how to use each and every tool – the few text boxes are not enough as I still cannot figure out how to bale grass – I would argue that this is the perfect initiation for those who THINK they might enjoy the Farming Simulator franchise. Without a ton of variety, the amount of gameplay available here for 29.99 USD might be too little for some, but just the right amount for others. – might be a complete turn off for some individuals, and I would totally understand that. The lack of vehicles – a good number of tractors and harvesters, but only a few baling machines, cultivators, planters, etc. Understand this, if nothing else from this review: the number of vehicles is minimal in Farming Simulator 18, and there aren’t a lot of things to do off the farm like in Farming Simulator 17. If you’ve plowed through hundreds of hours in Farming Simulator 17 on console, you’ll know there is tons to explore – lots of farming odd jobs to complete to lower the cost of a field, for example – tons of vehicles and placeables to purchase for your farm, and 100 gold nuggets to find scattered around the map. If that version looked slightly better, I wouldn’t be surprised, but hopefully both run extremely well – we can vouch that the 3DS version does at the least! A Dumbed Down Experience ![]() We reviewed Farming Simulator 18 on the Nintendo 3DS, and so we don’t have a graphical comparison with the Vita version. ![]() I’m not playing Farming Simulator 18 to look at gorgeous vistas: I want to simulate a farming experience on the go, and this game does that wonderfully. Would I like things to look better? Of course, but not as the expense of frame rate. Graphically, Farming Simulator is easily the best looking game in the franchise on handhelds, and while it still lacks greatly, I think it’s acceptable here for one reason: unlike in the console version where you might snap photos of picturesque landscapes, the 3DS and Vita version’s primary goal is, well, simulation. Had Focus Home Entertainment and Giants found a way to push off those handheld demons and product a quality release on handhelds? Thankfully, I can say yes! Graphically Enhanced, Albeit Still Lacking When loading up Farming Simulator 18, I was hoping for something similar. If your read our review of Farming Simulator 17, you’ll know that we absolutely loved that game, stating that it combined all the elements of past Farming Simulator games that were well received, and left behind the problematic issues. Farming Simulator games have never been that strong on handhelds, and when I heard that Farming Simulator 18 was coming to the 3DS and PS Vita, I wasn’t the least big excited. ![]() what think? always interested in your expert critiques. he was non plussed by this suggestion and suggested no mechanic would attempt it for a variety of reasons. had an interesting conversation with a favorite indie mechanic about converting this system to a cable actuation or external slave system with a clutch fork lever. seems the slave cylinder starts to leak long before the clutch is shot. that would be much easier and cheaper to maintain. it could have been designed with a cable actuation or an external slave cylinder like on the Toyota, civic, etc. my L100 with manual has a hydraulic clutch actuation with an internal slave cylinder. some of you may be discouraged too by increased use of profane language. ![]() fwd is a different war including, hanging engines, removing major parts of front end suspension assemblies to get clearance and accessability. over the years I did about 25 clutch changes and swap outs of shot manual trannies in rwds. just consider the increased work and expense in clutch/transmission work in a fwd versus same in an rwd. Hi sages- this thread poses a somewhat unique question. 3/21/2024 0 Comments Musical bar linesYou will notice that the measure is marking: the rhythm of the song, the way the instrumentalists are dividing the chords or, simply, the rhythmic pattern that the melody follows. Try to get some scores, listen to them and check their time signature. The beat set for the bar is related to the pulse that the song has. Let’s work on some examples of time signatures (take it as exercises) so that it becomes very clear how many notes fit in each measure:ħ/2 = Fits 7 half notes How to define a bar line in a song See the numbers that represent each note value in the denominator, in addition to the quarter note: Notice that the numerator of this fraction is saying that 4 notes can fit in a measure, and the denominator is saying that the note value is the quarter note, so the fraction 4/4 informs that 4 quarter notes can fit in one bar. The number 4 refers to the quarter note, so this is the reference figure. Informs which figure will serve as a reference for the analysis. This fraction 4/4 determined that a bar would have 4 quarter notes. Notice this fraction ( time signature) below, which appears at the beginning of the sheet music we have just analyzed: Time Signature Great, but what sets the time/length of a measure? Where is it written that each bar will have a length of 4 quarter notes? This reference only tells us the time that a bar involves, regardless of the figures that are there. Moral of the story: saying that “4 quarter notes can fit in one bar” does not mean that in one bar there can only be quarter note figures. The same is true for bars 1 and 3, which have other figures equivalent to the length of 4 quarter notes. There are several figures (quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes and thirty-second notes) in it, but all of them together occupy the length of 4 quarter notes, so they stay within the same bar. In this example, pay attention to the second bar. This is the time interval defined for each bar, and there could be other figures in the middle, see: This means that 4 quarter notes can fit within each bar. ![]() ![]() In this example, what was the organization used for bars? It was to separate groups of 4 quarter notes. This time interval is represented by vertical bars, as in the example below (highlighted in orange) Example of Musical Bar Lines A Bar is a way to divide a song in equal time intervals, with the objective of organizing the structure and facilitating the orientation for the reader. 3/21/2024 0 Comments Black facebook messenger apk![]() It should only take about 15 minutes to complete. Players will continue alternating turns until one player has no stones on their side. Continue alternating turns until one player has no stones left on their side The second player executes a turn following the same guidelines followed by the first player, but applied to their side of the board (must pick up from their side of the board, and skip their opponent’s Mancala). If your opponent doesn’t have any stones opposite, no stones are placed in the mancala. on an empty cup on your side AND the opponent has stone’s in the opposing cup, the “capture” your opponent’s stone in the opposing cup and your last stone played and put them in your own mancala.in your own mancala, a bonus turn is awarded. On each turn, one of 3 outcomes is possible based on the last stone played. If the player passes their mancala, they place one stone in it however, if they pass their opponent’s mancala, they skip it. On every turn, the player picks up all the stones from any one of their cups, and, moving counter-clockwise, places one stone per cup until there are no stones remaining in their hand. Play the first turn by picking up the stones from one of your cups and distributing them counterclockwise Since it’s an advantage to go first, the person with the choice should op6 to go first. Mancala is a fun, two-player “count and capture” board game of strategy where you try to outsmart your opponent to capture the most stones. 3/20/2024 0 Comments Civil dusk definitionThis is the phenomenon that has been styled the anti-twilight. Under favorable circumstances, the line of separation is marked by a yellowish edging. Very frequently one may notice, after the setting of the sun, when one it standing on an eminence, a red arch defined upon the eastern sky around a darkish-blue space. For that we have antitwilight: “the pink or purplish glow in the eastern sky after sunset.” If you are the sort of person who doesn’t feel the need to be exactly clear on how many degrees below the horizon something is, or if you perhaps aren’t feeling particularly civil, you might wish to have a word which refers to the afterglow of the sun in a more general fashion. Shirley Palmer, in his 1845 A Pentaglot Dictionary, described it as beginning “by the vulgar calculation, at the moment when an individual can no longer pursue his occupation, in the house, without the aid of artificial light," and ending “when the smaller stars are discernible with the naked eye.” Not everyone felt the need to give a precise degree to the beginning or end of civil twilight. It may be taken that civil twilight ends when the sun is about 8° below the horizon, and that astronomical twilight ends when the sun is about 18° below the horizon. The Miscellaneous Documents of the Senate of the United States, 1857 1899Īs before indicated, the limit of refractional light is when the sun in 34’ below the horizon civil twilight when it is 7 ½° and common or astronomical twilight when it is 17°. The Evening Post (Charleston, SC), 31 Mar. Practical, or civil, twilight is the time which elapses between the moment of the sun’s setting and the moment when he is seven degrees of a great circle below the horizon. The Times-Picayune (New Orleans, LA), 27 Jan. An article in a 1916 issue of Monthly Weather Review noted that “five distinct definitions are given for the ending of civil twilight.” Depending on which 19th century source one held as an authority, civil twilight could end when the sun was 6, 7, 7 1/2, or 8 degrees below the horizon.Ĭivil twilight, the only one which interests inhabitants of town and country, ends at the moment when the sun descends six degrees below the horizon, and at that moment planets and stars of first magnitude begin to appear. This observation was made in the middle of the 19th century, and by the early 20th people still hadn’t worked out exactly when civil twilight ended. Why? According to the French physicist Auguste Bravais, “The length of twilight is an element useful to be known: by prolonging the day, it permits the continuance of labor.” It appears that the reason for all this feverish worry about when exactly twilight begins and ends was not so that poets might have more exact terms at their disposal the twilight-figurers were more concerned with things such as “the continuance of labor.” It should be noted that Bravais also observed that “Unfortunately, philosophers are not agreed upon its duration.” Senate publication dealt with, among other things, what twilight really is. Lest you believe this is an unimportant triviality, note that a mid-19th century report in a U.S. Each of these twilights may be used to describe the condition in the morning or evening, leaving us with six different twilights throughout the day. In addition to civil twilight we have nautical twilight (“the period before sunrise or after sunset during which the sun is not more than 12 degrees below the horizon”) and astronomical twilight (the darkest of the three twilights, with the sun between 12 and 18 degrees below the horizon). ![]() In fact, there are many different words for slight differences in this part of the day. If you’ve paid close attention to the above citation, you may have noticed that there is more than one kind of twilight. Thomas Leybourn, The Mathematical Questions, Proposed in the Ladies’ Diary 1817 Lambert in the 18th century, but there does not appear to be a record of the word used in English until early in the following century.Īll these notions are extremely vague, and refer less to the astronomical twilight, than to that other twilight which allows to labour and to read, which was first mentioned by Lambert, and named by him civil twilight. ![]() Civil twilight is a scientific term, and we define it as “the period after sunset or before sunrise ending or beginning when the sun is about 6 degrees below the horizon and during which on clear days there is enough light for ordinary outdoor occupations.” Some sources claim that the word was coined by the Swiss polymath J. That is one reason I like to simply disable vsync. If the game is slightly slower than the monitor, the hardware will sync at the next opportunity, which leads to 60 FPS, 30 FPS, and 15 FPS. The way vertical sync works, the hardware will experience a brief 30 FPS frame rate if the game frame rate dips to 59 FPS, assuming the monitor vsync is 60 FPS.īy definition, vsync forces the hardware to sync the frame with the monitor. I don't know for sure why the frame rate in Unity varies, but my hunch is that Unity's code for locking the frame rate actually limits the frame rate to just below the desired frame rate instead of correctly locking it with the vsync. Make sure your code compensates the movements based on the deltaTime. This seems so strange.Ĭlick to expand. You need to assume that the frame rate is going to vary some even when you try to lock the frame rate. it's just the ltaTime that varies drastically. It's worth emphasizing that my monitor framerate is not varying (it's 60Hz) and my Update framerate is also always 60Hz if you take a 1sec average. The build is a bit smoother.īut with a blank project and no graphics or code loading and Vysync of there *should* be lots of idle time and I would think ltaTime would be very close to the ideal 16.667ms. I've also noticed that the ltaTime varies more in the editor than in the build. If I multiply by a constant 20ms then I will get smooth motion even though my ltaTime varies wildly from it's average of 20ms. So if I multiply anything by ltaTime the actual delta motion will vary wildly (because I am multiplying anywhere between 1ms and 30ms). but some ltaTimes are 1ms and some are over 30ms. The issue is that my monitor updates update 60Hz (16.667ms) and my Update() loop gets called at 60Hz (16.667ms) on average. ![]() Click to expand. Thanks for the tip but I don't think that helps. 3/20/2024 0 Comments Windows pinball 3dIt was the location of the one Windows XP feature I am most proud of. If it makes you feel better, I am saddened by this as much as you are. We just made the executive decision right there to drop Pinball from the product. We had several million lines of code still to port, so we couldn’t afford to spend days studying the code trying to figure out what obscure floating point rounding error was causing collision detection to fail. Heck, we couldn’t even find the collision detector! Two of us tried to debug the program to figure out what was going on, but given that this was code written several years earlier by an outside company, and that nobody at Microsoft ever understood how the code worked (much less still understood it), and that most of the code was completely uncommented, we simply couldn’t figure out why the collision detector was not working. In particular, when you started the game, the ball would be delivered to the launcher, and then it would slowly fall towards the bottom of the screen, through the plunger, and out the bottom of the table. The 64-bit version of Pinball had a pretty nasty bug where the ball would simply pass through other objects like a ghost. But one of the programs that ran into trouble was Pinball. One of the things I did in Windows XP was port several millions of lines of code from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows so that we could ship Windows XP 64-bit Edition. ![]() There is apparently speculation that this was done for legal reasons. Windows XP was the last client version of Windows to include the Pinball game that had been part of Windows since Windows 95. |
